Course Credits & Transcript

Learn for Knowledge or Earn Academic Credit

International University of Life Sciences (IULS) provides students with flexibility in how they participate in individual courses. Students may study a course for personal or professional enrichment without requesting academic credit, or they may elect to have their coursework formally evaluated for academic credit toward the Master of Science in Complementary and Integrative Health.

Non-Credit / Audit Study

Students who participate in a course for learning or professional enrichment only and do not require academic credit, an official transcript, or progress toward the IULS master's degree are not required to pay the $200 Course Credit Assessment Fee.

Non-credit participation:

  • Provides access to the course and its learning activities.

  • Does not result in semester-unit credit.

  • Is not recorded as earned degree credit on an official academic transcript.

  • Does not count toward the 40 semester units required for the master's degree.

  • Does not by itself qualify the student for an IULS degree or diploma.

Students who wish to earn academic credit must follow the Credit-Bearing Course process below.

Earning Academic Credit

Each degree course in the Master of Science in Complementary and Integrative Health carries 4 semester units. Students who wish to have a course evaluated for academic credit should normally submit the Course Credit Assessment request during Week 5 of the course and pay the applicable $200 Course Credit Assessment Fee. Payment of the assessment fee does not guarantee academic credit. Academic credit is awarded only after the student:

  1. Is appropriately registered for the course;

  2. Completes the required academic work and assessments;

  3. Meets the applicable academic and grading requirements; and

  4. Successfully completes the course.

A successfully completed 4-unit course will result in 4 semester units of academic credit being added to the student's academic record.

If a student does not successfully complete the course, academic credit is not awarded.

Course Credit Assessment

Fee: $200 per course

Please make sure that your name, IULS student identification information, course code, and course title are entered correctly when submitting your payment.

If You Do Not Pass a Course

Students who do not successfully complete a credit-bearing course will not receive academic credit for that attempt. A student is permitted one opportunity to repeat the course in accordance with IULS academic policy.

To arrange a course repeat, please contact: academic@lifesci.education. Please include:

  • Full name

  • Student ID

  • Course code and course title

  • Date of the original course enrollment

The Office of Academic Affairs will provide instructions for re-enrollment.

Course assessment fees paid for successfully completed credit-bearing courses allow those courses to be evaluated and recorded as academic credit. Paying an assessment fee alone does not constitute successful course completion and does not guarantee graduation.

Official Transcript and Graduation

After academic credit has been awarded, the earned course units and grades become part of the student's academic record. Students who complete all degree requirements may apply for graduation and request an official transcript.

Current Institutional Fees

Course Credit Assessment$200 per course
First Approved Retake of Same Course   No additional assessment fee

The $200 Course Credit Assessment Fee is not a transcript fee. It is the course-based academic assessment fee associated with evaluating and awarding academic credit. Transcript and graduation fees are separate institutional charges.
